As you may know, the Salesforce IdeaExchange is one of my favorite features of the platform — offering Trailblazers, users, admins, and devs around the world the opportunity to shape the feature roadmap and prioritize the updates that will have the biggest impacts on their day-to-day efforts. So, even on the rare occasion that the result of your “How do I do X in Salesforce?” search is a disappointing “You can’t”, the IdeaExchange appends a hopeful “…yet” because you’ll inevitably find others asking for the same and, in a best case scenario, you’ll already see which release it’s been approved and slated for!
And that’s what makes today so special — it’s IdeaExchange winners day! The day we get to find out which features are votes bumped up into reality, and when we can expect to see them hit our orgs. It’s one of my favorite Salesforce emails every year but, if you’re not poring over their missives like me, you might have missed it. So, let’s take a look at what the userbase elected to see brought to fruition in the upcoming releases!
More math functions in reports — Adds more math functions in operational reports such as Median and Standard Deviation. This’ll be a huge help to formula-field gurus and those that are always looking to do more with their data.
Estimated GA Release: Summer ‘22
Increase the limit on the number of reports a user can subscribe to — This work will happen in 2 phases. Phase 1 will be a short term solution to increase the limits temporarily. Phase 2 will be a long term solution using our headless browser service, which will require rearchitecting the way subscriptions work.
Estimated GA Release: Winter ‘24
Increase pricing transparency on AppExchange listings — Introduces additional pricing options on AppExchange, in order to provide information that helps customers evaluate products using clear, transparent pricing information. The customer will have the ability to distinguish between free, free to install but requires paid service, freemium, and paid offerings.
Estimated GA Release: Summer ‘22
Sort apps by number of reviews — Allows the sorting of AppExchange listings by number of reviews.
Estimated GA Release: Winter ‘23
Content workflow approvals using CMS in Experience Cloud — Allows draft content to be put through workflows that ensures it can be reviewed and approved before being published.
Estimated GA Release: Spring ‘23
Enhanced matching in BDI — NPSP: Expands BDI’s current matching for more complex matching criteria like external IDs.
Estimated GA Release: Summer ‘22
Embed text in Client Notes — NPC Case Management: Based on the type of note selected, the note body will be auto-populated with text for faster and more consistent data entry.
Estimated GA Release: Winter ‘23
Engagement Studio wait times less than a day — Provides the ability to set a time greater than “immediately” and less than “1” day on action steps in Engagement Studio. For Pardot folks like me, this one’s going to be huge! Faster cadences mean more flexible Engagement Programs, better personalization and all-around improved marketing functionality and execution.
Estimated GA Release: Spring ‘23

And, if you’re ready to get involved in helping set the platform roadmap for the future — head over to the IdeaExchange, submit your best ideas for updates, and get voting! Salesforce has changed a ton in the time it’s been around, and a lot of that comes down to users offering their in-the-trenches perspective on exactly what works, and what doesn’t.
Until next time, keep working hard, smart, and happy. And we’ll see you in the cloud!
