Winter ‘25 Release Highlights: Data Cloud

The first of three Release Weekends kicks off this week. Admins, Partners, and Consultants prepare to deploy the efforts necessary to ensure users are ready for the changes headed to their organizations. This may come in the form of training materials, permission adjustments, or operational changes based on product, platform, or service. No matter the use case, making sure users have the information they need to operate day in and day out with as little impact as possible is key to a successful Release Weekend deployment.

In today’sWinter ‘25 Release Highlights we’ll take a look at some of the new and exciting updates, upgrades, and features that are headed to Data Cloud!

Data Cloud Setup

As Data Cloud activations take place within orgs around the ecosystem, it is important to leverage the new features and functionality included by default, and creating a streamlined process will ensure more users adopt and leverage its benefits. This Winter ‘25 change removes the need to assign a Data Cloud Admin permission set before having to access the Data Cloud Setup (DCS). Allowing Salesforce users with a “System Admin” profile and “Data Cloud Access” to automatically access DCS.

Giving access to guidance tasks, setup tasks, and more within their DCS, right out of the box. This change applies to the following Data Cloud editions: Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited.

Dedicated Data Cloud Packages

This Winter ‘25 change provides users the ability to define data models, processes, and connectors to tell Data Cloud how to manage, process, and analyze the data within an org. Pre-configured models may be the best approach to get started but eventually creating separate packages for various use cases will be the way to maximize this product’s features and functionality.

Clone an existing package from either data integration, identify resolution, or analytics and customize to your org needs. This change applies to first or second-generation managed packages and will be available in September 2024.

Lock and Protect Data Kits

As Data Cloud package owners create custom Data Kits (DKs) they seek to maintain consistency across platforms. That is why this Winter ‘25 change will allow them to control and protect DKs from unauthorized changes. Allowing them to restrict changes to only themselves. Users will be able to add additional entities within a DK but cannot change or remove mappings or entities.

A must-have update to ensure DKs are not removed without the primary owner’s consent. This change applies to the following Data Cloud editions: Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited. And… will be available starting September 2024.

Prepare Your Org
